1997 Manual DescriptionEdit
An ancient, dune-filled course, Egypt's snake-like turns test even the bravest racers. Here, you will compete in either dune Buggies or Dakar vehicles, as their forgiving suspensions and tight turn radiuses make them well-suited for these tracks. As you kick up Pharoah dust in the Valley of the Kings, beware of the Sphinx's penetrating gaze, collapsed wooden bridges, and the looming presence of the Great Pyramid of Cheops.
Egypt features a sand track surrounded with ancient pyramids. The track stretches over seven miles in lap distance, making it the longest in the game. A warm, arid locale featuring only sunny and sunset races, buggies and Dakars will encounter many devious ramps and an alternative route known as the bumpy stretch.
To unlock all Egypt levels without winning any races, the player can enter a secret code by tapping R1 to the tune "Always look on the bright side of life" (from Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life). If entered correctly, an engine sound will blare and all Egypt levels will be unlocked.
- Egypt's secret fireball is found in Egypt 1.
- Egypt's track has more shortcuts than all the other locales combined.
- Egypt's starting positions are changed twice throughout the six levels, with Ahmed taking the pole position in only the first three races.
