Easter Island 2 is the second level of the Easter Island track featuring the buggy. Set in the reverse direction of Easter Island 1, racers encounter the volcano tunnel, now devoid of barriers, posing a risk of crashing into the lava.

In this level, there is an orange orb that teleports the player to Easter Island's extra level, Easter Island 7. The orb is hidden behind red barriers, found midway through the track between the S-turn and newly-positioned ramp. The player must climb over these barriers to retrieve it.

This level marks the buggy's final appearance in Easter Island, with Dakars taking over the next four levels. Easter Island 2 is also available in the Split-Screen and Head-To-Head modes, where it is referred to as Easter Island A.

Race[]

Easter Island 2 is significantly more challenging than most Level 2 races. The heightened difficulty can be attributed to the dominance of frontrunner AI Baptiste, as well as the absence of barriers within the volcano tunnel. As Lap 1 progresses, Baptiste's lead rapidly expands, urging the player to quickly overtake the weaker opponents. However, reckless speeding within the tunnel carries the risk of crashing into the lava.

Beyond the tunnel, overtaking opponents on the sandy terrain introduces an additional challenge, as veering into the intertidal zone leads to a substantial reduction in speed. Tackling the ramp after the S-turn can prove tricky, as evidenced by the struggles of weaker AI rivals. Fortunately, the player can simply bypass the ramp by driving past it on the left side.

There are instances where AI Baptiste himself falters at the ramp or other sections of the track due to excessive speed, allowing the player to close the gap in Lap 1. Nonetheless, Baptiste slows down in Lap 2, although by this point he usually enjoys a substantial lead over the other opponents. It is interesting to note that if the player takes on the role of Baptiste, AI Ahmed, now assuming the lead position, cannot replicate Baptiste's dominance due to his slower turning speed. In this scenario, AI Ivanov is likely to challenge Ahmed for first place as the race unfolds.

In cases where securing victory proves to be consistently challenging, the player can opt for a Rampage tactic within the volcano. This approach involves the player deliberately staying behind during Lap 1, positioning their car on the barrier-free track, and executing a bottleneck blockade against approaching opponents in Lap 2. The blockade prevents them from overtaking the stationary player, causing them to lose control while attempting to pass. This results in their vehicles tumbling into the lava below, eliminating them from the race.

AI Speed Table[]

Below are the AI speeds in the Grand Tour Racing '98 version; speeds may differ in Total Drivin or other versions. The table represents the AI's straight-line speeds and does not account for individualized behaviors or specific car mechanics, such as driving accuracy, turning speed, and acceleration.
